As our teams grow, we seek our next Engineering Manager to join our team.


The Engineering Manager at The Bread Factory is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the maintenance, operation, and improvement of our site production facilities and equipment.

As a key leader in our team, you will ensure that our operations run smoothly and efficiently, supporting the production of our handcrafted, high-quality baked goods.


Every day is different at The Bread Factory, but here are some of the things you will be doing:

Team Leadership:

Lead and manage the engineering team, providing mentorship, training, and ensuring strong performance in day-to-day operations.

Maintenance:

Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance schedules for all bakery machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and maintain high production output.


Project Management:

Lead improvement projects to optimize production efficiency, including the introduction of new technologies, equipment upgrades, and facility expansions.


Health & Safety:

Ensure all operations comply with health and safety regulations, fostering a safe working environment for all employees.


Budget Management:

Manage the engineering department’s budget, optimizing spending on maintenance, repairs and compliance.


Collaboration:

Work closely with production teams, operations, and other departments to support continuous improvement initiatives.


Compliance:

Ensure that the bakery complies with all customer food manufacturing policies, legal and environmental standards for food manufacturing and machinery use.


Supplier Management:

Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers for machinery repairs, parts procurement, and service agreements.


Our team tells us you will be a great addition if you…

  • 3 -5 years proven experience in Engineering Management, ideally within the Food Manufacturing, FMCG and regulated industries.
  • Required experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) preferred Shire System.
  • Good understanding of design software knowledge such as CAD and SolidWorks.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automated systems used in food production.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven knowledge of improvement techniques such as Lean, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Experience with problem solving tools like Fishbone, 5 Whys, etc.
  • A strategic mindset with a focus on improving operational efficiencies and reducing downtime.


Hold a Level 5 Engineering Qualification with supporting field experience working in a similar role.
