Shift patterns

We are proud to offer full-time, permanent contracts. You will be working 42.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 which may include weekends. Shift times will vary.


Experience needed

A good attitude and a willingness to learn. You must have a passion for food and bakery, just like we do!

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable apprentices, that are not afraid of getting stuck in with the team in the bakery. At The Bread Factory, we craft all our bread by hand, so you will need to bring your energy to the role. You will be working with the team to bake our products on time for our customers. It’s a fast paced, physical environment.


During your apprenticeship you will learn:

  • The baking industry – Specifically the artisan/craft division
  • The bakery supply chain, from ingredients to dispatching to customers.
  • The new product development process
  • Bakery methods (bread, cake pastry)
  • How to safely work machinery, such as mixers and industrial ovens
  • How to produce products that are safe to consume
  • Managing supplies
  • Finishing products e.g. labelling


What your apprenticeship includes:

  • A mixture of on and off-the-job training, including workshops, masterclasses, and webinars. Including traveling to Plumpton College at least once per month.
  • A mixture of face-to-face and online catch-ups.
  • A Review every 12 weeks with your Line Manager and the Training Provider.
  • An opportunity to obtain Functional Skills in English and Math's (if you don't already have the GCSEs).

Qualifications Awarded:

  • Apprenticeship Certificate
  • Level 2 Certificate in Baking Industry Skills
  • Level 1 Math's and English (if applicable)
