As our teams grow, we are on the lookout for our next Health and Safety Advisor to join our team in Hendon



Every day is different at The Bread Factory, but here are some of the things you will be doing:

  • Advise and support the senior management team on all health and safety issues and ensuring the business is up to date on all H&S legislation.
  • Carry out appropriate health and safety risk assessment and that all risks are highlighted with elimination or mitigation plans
  • Lead investigations into all accidents and ensure records of accidents and near misses are kept up to date and reported to the senior management team at the correct frequency.
  • Carry out all H&S inductions and training for the business in conjunction with the learning and development team.
  • Manage fire risk and fire prevention processes.
  • Ensure regular reviews are in place to monitor the performance of the business against KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage all external contractors who carry out work on-site to ensure they are meeting all legislative requirements for the work they are completing.
  • Work in conjunction with internal stakeholders to ensure all project work is completed to the correct H&S legislation and that TBF is fully compliant.
  • Support site teams with scheduled inspections and reports relating to buildings and equipment.
  • Outline safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
  • Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers.
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry.
  • Attend IOSH webinars or training courses and read professional journals.
  • Produce management reports, newsletters, and bulletins.
  • Ensure equipment is installed safely. Under PUWER regulations.
  • Manage and organize the safe disposal of hazardous substances
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, and occupational diseases.
  • Lead and chair Health and Safety committee meetings.

  • Influencing skills
  • 2+ years of food manufacturing experience, preferably in a technical role
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages, especially Excel
  • Proficient in COSHH / REACH awareness
  • NEBOSH General Certification
  • NEBOSH Fire desirable
  • Good working knowledge of MAC, ART, & RAPP assessments.
  • Member of IOSH desirable
  • First Aid / Mental Health First Aider / Fire Marshall trained would be beneficial.
