About us:

The Bread Factory is a long-established business specialising in the production and distribution of high quality breads, pastries and cakes across the UK. We have an award winning artisan bakery that looks and operates differently and our goal is to make world class bread that everyone can enjoy. The company’s focus is on freshly baked artisan products, along with excellent customer service. Our Manchester business has been baking since 2017.


We are looking for a Head Baker who are as passionate about bread as we are. Candidates need to be able to produce hand crafted bread to our high standards using traditional baking techniques. This means you need to have excellent knowledge of dough and proofing.


The role will include shaping, mixing and oven work across our full range of sourdoughs, baguettes and flavoured loaves.

Every day is different at The Bread Factory, but here are some of the things you will be doing:

· Manage all parts of manufacturing, analyzing daily production demands and making plans appropriately.

· Ensure recipes are followed and the highest levels of product quality are achieved.

· Make suggestions to the unit manager for enhancing the recipe and support the NPD team to develop new products.

· Organize shift rotas to guarantee optimal productivity and efficiency.

· Being responsible for receiving goods and updating inventory.

· Proactively communicate any equipment failures with the appropriate parties and ensure issues are resolved.

· Review key performance indicators regularly.

· Managing daily quality KPI’s.

· Resolving any predicted difficulties or problems, such as shortages, quality problems, delays, and operational issues in a timely manner.

· Ensuring excellent internal and external customer relations.

· Recommend and manage operational and organizational changes.

· Management of employees through the team leaders, including rotas, managing absences, including holidays, performance feedback, probation reviews, and job chats, holding daily briefings with the team, and a monthly team meeting.

· Identify when vacancies are needed, and recruit bakers as required.
